Catbalogan, Samar (November 30) -- Despite previous reports about an increase in the price of loaf bread, Department of Trade and Industry's Maricel Navarra, confirmed that the prices have not risen in Catbalogan and Calbayog.
In August, the Philippine Association of Flour Millers (PAFMIL) announced that there will be an increase on the price of flour on November or December. Reports cited that this would consequently lead to a P1.00 increase in the price of loaf bread.
The DTIs weekly monitoring in Catbalogan and Calbayog though, shows that the price of loaf bread has not changed in two weeks.
Navarra, the agency's Consumer Welfare Division Office in Charge also said that they have included commodities called "Noche Buena Products" in the price watch. This group includes fruit cocktail, cheese and spaghetti or products usually bought for Christmas Eve banquets.
According to Navarra, the agency continues to monitor any changes in the price of bread and Noche Buena Products on a weekly basis. (PIA Samar) [top]
