DTI 12 pushes SME investments to support large enterprises
Koronadal City (3 December) -- Small and medium enterprises are the beneficiaries of the program, Supply Management thru investments for Large Enterprises (SMILE) which entices the entry of more investors to generate domestic sales of goods and services.
Under the stewardship of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Region 12, the program encourages large enterprises, DTI Regional 12 Director Ibrahim Guiamadel said, to source out their material requirements from their host communities. He further said this will boost up the communities' corporate social responsibility programs and strengthen their thrust to be environmentally and socially responsible in conducting their businesses.
DTI 12 Assistant Regional Director Doris Delima explained that the program allows matching the demand of large companies with local supplier and proactively identifies business opportunities for investments if none of such products are locally available.
DTI, in turn, Delima pointed out, facilitates business development/improvement, productivity enhancement and access to financial support, among others.
Delima claimed that SMILE is expected to generate and increase investments. The program, according to the DTI official, has identified 22 opportunities for investments in 21 companies in General Santos City, Sarangani Province and South Cotabato.
The program will hopefully produce a new breed of small and medium entrepreneurs who conscientiously adhere their social responsibility. (DTI 12/PIA 12) [top]
