PHL participates in "2010 Soccer Tournament and Multi-Cultural Family Day"

Manila (3 December) -- The Philippine Embassy in Mexico participated in the 2010 Soccer Tournament and Multicultural Family Day held at the Universidad de Anahuac in Mexico City on November 20.

The event was organized by the Asociación de Cónjuges de Diplomaticos México (ACD) in coordination with the Oficina de Vinculación con el H. Cuerpo de Diplomático of the Ministry of Foreign Relations with the assistance of the Universidad de Anahuac.

The event was held not only to celebrate and interact with other nations within the diplomatic community in Mexico, but to also raise funds for the four charity organizations being supported by the ACD.

Aside from the soccer match, there were cultural presentations, as well as a showcase of various products and dishes of participating countries.

A raffle draw and an auction were conducted to raise funds.

For its participation, Embassy representatives Divina Trinidad Carolino-Gay-ya and Niccie Cruz performed the "Bulaklakan" dance to the delight of the audience.

The Asian Ladies Club, where majority of its members are Filipinos, sold Asian cuisine including Filipino dishes such as pansit (noodles), adobo and siopao (steamed bun).

Young Filipino businessman Marlon Pedregosa sold Philippine-made necklaces during the event.

ACD members represent a total of 55 countries, mostly accredited embassies, and 15 international organizations in Mexico. The members are all diplomatic representatives' spouses who have built ACD into an important and well-known association in Mexico today. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
