Feature: Pascua na Zamboanga tilt

Zamboanga City (3 December) -- Its fuzz and buzz, as the city opens today the two-week long Christmas festivity dubbed as "2010 Pascua na Zamboanga" (2010 Christmas in Zamboanga) aimed to spread Christmas cheers and spirit.
The merry making will kick off with a colorful parade of lanterns 5:30 this afternoon back to back with the inter-cluster Christmas chorale competition. This afternoon's activity will be highlighted with the ceremonial synchronized switch on of Christmas Landmarks right at the heart of the city-Plaza Pershing, Christmas landmarks at City Hall, Plaza Del Pilar and Paseo del Mar that will officially mark the start of Christmas season in Zamboanga.
More than 2000 employees of the city government are expected to attend the parade.
Other activities in the two week long festivity include inter-barangay Christmas Landmark competition set on Dec. 6-14; canciones de pascua (inter-elementary school Christmas chorale competition-Dec. 9 at 5pm at the Plaza Pilar, and Best dressed in Santa Claus competition scheduled on Dec. 12 at 10am at garden Orchid Hotel Convention Center.
Pascua na Zamboanga is a yearly practice to spread the contagious joys of Christmas, a festivity of the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25. It is one of the most celebrated festivals in the city.
