IP leaders reveal plan to protect CADT 070

Tandag Surigao del Sur (December 06) -- The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion International para el Desarrollo (AECID) and Government Agencies with Private Stakeholders of Bislig City recently convened with the Indigenous People Development Programme (IPDP) for a Multi-Sectoral follow-up Workshop at Kansilad, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.
During the workshop, the Indigenous People (IP) leaders of the of Certificate Ancestral Domain Title 070 (CADT 070) from Bislig City presented their plans to protect their Ancestral Domain suited to their culture and tradition under the IP/Lumad Customary Law.
Representatives from different government agencies, stakeholders and LGU Bislig observed what the IPs needed for peace, development and protection of the whole CADT 070.
The CADT 116 in San Miguel composed of Manobo tribe covering 13 Barangays and CADT 070, composed of the Manobo and Mandaya tribe in Bislig City.
Provincial NCIP of this province, as lead agency for program implementation was already an outline plan for 5 years in CADT 116 that recently conducted with the joint effort of the council members. (PIA-Surigao del Sur) [top]
