Army officer commits suicide inside quarters in Lanao del Sur

Islamic City of Marawi (06 December) -- An army officer allegedly committed suicide last Saturday, December 4, inside his quarters in Wharf Based, Barangay Poblacion of Balabagan town in Lanao del Sur province.
In a text message to media, Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan disclosed that 1Lt. Remondo Estrada, 31 years old and from Pangasinan province was found dead hanged inside the comfort room of his quarter with the use of a black leather belt tied to his neck and to the ceiling.
Estrada is the commanding officer of the "G" Company under the 51st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
Derogongan said their initial investigation revealed that a certain TSgt. Bernardo Emi found the lifeless body of Estrada when he went inside the victim's quarters to verify why Estrada was still inside when he was known to wake up around nine o'clock every morning.
Upon noticing the unusual time, TSgt. Emi decided to verify the situation inside the victim's quarters by knocking on his halfway opened door several times but still no one answered, he said.
After knocking several times, Emi went inside the victim's quarters only to find his bed empty and his body hanging in the comfort room, the police provincial director further said. (PIA Marawi) [top]
