PA conducts "Ugnayan sa Paaralan" in Sariaya

Lucena City (6 December) -? A series of Ugnayan sa Paaralan were conducted by troops of Philippine Army to the students of different secondary educational institution in Sariaya, Quezon. This activity was conducted thru the joint effort of 1st Special Forces Battalion under LTC BENJAMIN G BATARA JR, the Department of Education (DepED), Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

This activity aims to enlighten the minds of students against the plan of the Communist terrorist (CPP-NPA-NDF) in toppling down our government and change the democracy into communist state.It also aims to keep the students aware and warm them of the deceptive tactics and techniques of the underground movement in recruiting youth into its armed struggle. The group also discussed various social concerns affecting the communities and on how the concerned agencies of the local government will address these problems.

During the conduct of Ugnayan sa Paaralan former rebel Marife A Benusa testified and discussed the modus operandi of New Peoples Army on how the youth were utilized by the communist. While other lecturers explains the effects of illegal drugs, abuses against minors, patriotism, the value of education and the role and responsibility of each individuals in developing our country.

From 23 November to 01 December 2010, Ugnayan sa Paaralan was conducted in six different schools within 1st Special Forces Battalion Area of Cooperation namely: Canda National High School, Gov Anacleto Alcala National High School, St Joseph Academy, Sariaya Institute and St Francis Natioanl High School which benefited more or less 1,800 students.

The Philippine Army will continue to its endeavor by educating the youth about Communist Terrorist to ensure that students will not be deceived by this lawless group. (201BDE Public Affairs Cell, PA/PIA Quezon) [top]
