Isabela SP holds marathon sessions to pass 2011 proposed budget
Ilagan, Isabela (December 7) -- Just like the country's Congress which is holding committee hearings to immediately pass the national budget to avoid a re-enacted budget for next year, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of this province is holding special sessions to pass the proposed budget for next year.
The SP has approved on first reading the budget submitted for the province for 2011 amounting to P1.7 billion last week and just yesterday's special session the SP has invited chiefs of offices to defend and explain to the chamber their respective budgets for 2011 and continue until today.
Vice Governor Rodolfo Albano III, who presides during sessions, wanted that the budget for next year would be passed before Christmas break.
Albano said the chamber is doing its homework when it comes to passing the province's budget as it is essential for the welfare of the constituents.
"We avoid having re-enacted budgets that even when I am in Congress we always recommend the country's budget for its immediate passage", Albano said.
He said sessions will be conducted until the 2011 proposed provincial budget will finally be passed by the SP and be submitted to Governor Faustino Dy III for his approval.
The province's legislative chamber is hopeful that there will be no re-enacted budget comes January 2011. (PIA Isabela) [top]
