Batangas launches search for "Most Outstanding Barangay in Rabies Control Program"
Batangas City (7 December) -- The Office of the City Veterinary and Agricultural Services (OCVAS) has launched recently the search for the "Most Outstanding Barangay in Rabies Control Program" in which the 19 barangays in this city will vie for the award.
The search focuses on the observation of stray dogs wandering the streets and the barangay with most practical ordinance on rabies control, registration of dogs and effective ways in preventing rabies.
Committee members include representatives from OCVAS, City Health Office (CHO), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP) Batangas City and the Public Information Office (PIO).
A prize of P15,000 awaits the winners of the search to be announced this December.
Aside from the awareness campaign against rabies, the OCVAS continues in the vaccination of dogs against rabies while the CHO provides vaccination against rabies for residents bitten by dogs. (PIA Calabarzon) [top]
