Oro mayor allows use of JR Borja, Guillermo Sts. for vending
Cagayan de Oro City (7 December) -- In an effort to help small-time vendors eke out a living during Christmas season, City Mayor Vicente "Dongkoy" Emano has allowed the use of some portions of J.R. Borja and Guillermo Streets near Cogon Public Market for street vending.
By virtue of Executive Order No. 072-2010, Mayor Emano gave go-signal to some 43 street vendors to display their Christmas items and products along a portion of J.R. Borja Street (set back 10 meters from both ends of Guillermo St, to Capt. V. Roa St.) until December 31, 2010.
In separate orders, Mayor Emano also permitted 19 ready-to-wear clothing (RTW) vendors and 15 fruit vendors to display their wares and stuff along a portion of Guillermo Street (10 meters from the corner of J.R. Borja St.), alongside Gaisano Superstore until Dec. 31 this year.
In line with this, the Mayor ordered Acting City Police Director Col. Benedicto B. Lopez; and Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) executive overseer Col. Antonio C. Montalba to maintain orderliness, cleanliness, peace and order on the areas. (City Information Office) [top]
