Coffee entrepreneur visits Bacolod City
Bacolod City (9 December) -- Social and coffee entrepreneur Pacita "Chit" Juan, co-chairperson of the National Coffee Development Board and the first president of the Specialty Coffee Association of the Philippines, said she regularly travels with fellow coffee advocates to six coffee-producing areas all over the country to empower farmers and teach them how to add value to their coffee.
As one of the founders of Figaro Coffee Company, the largest Filipino-owned chain of coffee shops in the Philippines, Ms.Juan brings her management expertise to the national level to help save coffee farmers from opportunistic traders and provide a market for local producers.
She was in Bacolod City over the weekend to talk to organic advocates on Social Entrepreneurship during the recently-concluded 5th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival.
Ms.Juan said the local brand Negros Island Rainforest Organic Coffee is becoming popular and sells well at ECHOStore, a shop that promotes sustainable lifestyle at Serendra and Podium malls in Manila. She owns ECHOStore, LeBistroVert sustainable foods and ECHOFarms.
Ms.Juan also visited the Organic Na Negros! Market in Bacolod City with Ramon Jr. and Francine Uy of Fresh Start General Merchandising that distributes Organic Coffee in Negros, Cebu, Iloilo and Manila. (OPA-FITS-Neg. Occ/PIA/cad) [top]
