Ex policeman falls in buy-bust operation
Dipolog City (9 December) (9 December) -- A former policeman assigned with the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) fell into the hands of the authorities in a drug buy-bust operation at Barangay Gulayon this city recently.
After a long period of surveillance, a joint team of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and police together with "Team David," a Special Cafgu Active Auxiliary (SCAA) force here arrested a certain Limar Velasco y Masion, 39, married and a resident of said barangay.
The operation was conducted in the presence of Barangay Chair Maryjane Cuenca, Department of Justice (DOJ) representative Pableo Alesna and media representative Zorayda Eva Mustaril.
Velasco, a former member of PNP-HPG, was dismissed from the service after being implicated in a drug-related case.
The arrest was made when the suspect agreed to sell to POI Beau Faith Ortezuela, who posed as buyer, one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu for P300.
Siezed from Velasco's possession were two disposable lighters, one improvised bamboo stick sealer, one brown wallet containing assorted identification cards, one unit Sniper Yamaha motorcycle with key, ten small transparent heat-sealed plastic sachet containing while crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, four improvised tooter, three improvised flame reducer, 19 rolled aluminum foils, 19 empty plastic sachets and one transparent plastic sachet containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
The suspect is now temporarily detained at PNP cell awaiting filing of appropriate charges against him. (DC/PIA-ZN) [top]
