Dipolog City (9 December) (9 December) -- Four students of this city succeeded in bringing home the most coveted awards after participating in this year's National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) held at the Cultural Center of Philippine (CCP) in Manila recently.
Mrs. Violeta H. Rosal, NAMCYA coordinator of the city schools division office here disclosed that the team of Astly Brian B. Turno and Jordan B. Gahisan of the Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) won second place in the banduria/guitar category.
Another team composed of Carlo Jose G. Janolino of Saint Vincent's College (SVC) and Ember Yanuelle R. Diestro of Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU)-Dipolog Campus, all of this city, managed to land third place in the same category.
According to Rosal, none of the contestants met the standard rating to qualify for the first place. "That is why no one was declared champion," Rosal explained.
Rosal said these students had also emerged as champion during the Mindanao-wide NAMCYA competition in Davao City last September.
The coaches of the winning teams were Jay R. Sarita and Elba Ladera-Fiel. (PIA-ZN) [top]
