DTI business name registration now online

San Jose, Antique (29 July) -- Business name registration is now online.

The Department of Trade and Industry said that in order to fasttrack the processing of Business Names (BNs) registration, applicants can open the website of DTI ( to apply for business name registration. It can be easily accessed and time saving. All they have to do is go to internet cafés or else in the comfort of their homes.

Engr. Lynna Joy Cardinal, Trade and Industry Development Specialist, in charge of business name registration said that, if the requirements for business registration is complete, processing can be done in 15 minutes. "We urged the business owners/investors to use internet for their applications or bring the complete requirement to the DTI office so that approval can be done in a short period of time", Cardinal said.

The source further said that in municipalities where they conduct mobile Business Name (BN) registration and internet is not accessible, they still have to wait for the scheduled time of release since, all the documents will be processed at the DTI Provincial Office.

Meanwhile, from January to June this year, DTI has registered a total of 631 businesses where 502 are original registrants while 129 applied for renewal. The total approved BNs as of June 2010 is 61% of the annual target of 1037.

For main business activities, 48% engaged in retail business, 36 percent are engaged in services, 9 percent are wholesalers and 7 percent are manufacturers/producers. The province' capital town of San Jose has the highest number of business registered with 39 percent, Sibalom 10 percent and other towns have below 9 percent.

Employment generated from business name registration as of the June is 1,341 or 66 percent of the annual target. Likewise, investment generated which amounted to P102 million has already exceeded the annual target of P101 million. (PIA/psm) [top]
