Legaspi City (20 October) -- The iSchools Project, which distributes PCs to Philippine high schools, will be conducting a series of workshops to help beneficiaries manage their computer laboratories for the long term.
The first in a series of Sustainability Planning Workshops (SPW) will be held starting October 20, 2010 at Legaspi City, allowing participants to run their respective school computer labs once these are turned over by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology.
"The conduct of SPW is one of the many mechanisms employed by the iSchools Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure that its iSchools Wireless Internet Learning Laboratories will still be functional even after the project ends," iSchools Project Manager Toni Torres said.
The iSchools Project Management Office, together with its 37 implementing State Universities and Colleges partners have scheduled nationwide-cluster rollouts for its recipient schools.
A total of 99 Bicol-region schools from Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Albay are expected to benefit from this training. Some 107 participants composed of principals, teachers, PTA and LGU representatives are also expected to join the workshop.
Participants are expected to draft their school's iSchools Sustainability Plan, which will become the basis for future monitoring and evaluation activities.
"We are expecting that the participants make concrete plans to effectively maintain the operations of the laboratories after the project intervention," Leila Grace Ramos, Monitoring & Evaluation Lead, said. (CICT) [top]
