Sto. Nino SPED kids reign in 1st Pintados inter-school cheer dance competition
Tacloban City (October 2) -- Amid the yells and cheers from the crowd, the favorite Sto. Nino SPED Center cheer-dancers lorded over fourteen other competing teams to win the Best in Elementary Division Award and the coveted championship trophy in the 1st Pintados Inter-school Cheer-dance Competition held at the Leyte National High School Gymnasium on September 30.
The team composed of bubbly elementary school pupils clad in red cheering costumes, received the P30,000 championship prize and the P10,000 cash prize and trophies from Pintados Foundation president Mr. Eugene Tan and Pintados Foundation founding chairman Mayor Roque A. Tiu amid the cheers of the crowd in the full-packed 4,000-capacity gymnasium.

Adjudged as the first runner up is the cheer-dance team of the St. Paul's Business School which earlier was chosen as the most participated team and the Best College Team. A cash prize of P15,000 and a trophy was received by the team which earlier received a P10,000 cash prize for winning as the Best Team in the Collegiate Division. It bested other colleges which included STI College Tacloban, Eastern Samar State University, Eastern Visayas State University Ormoc Campus, Leyte Normal University, ABE International College and Colegio de Sta. Lourdes of Tabon-Tabon, Leyte.
The Sagkahan National High School Team won as the Best Team in the High School Division besting the Leyte National High School, the Palo National High School, the Tanauan School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries, the Alang Alang National High School and the Tanauan National High School. It received a cash prize of P10,000 and a trophy.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Samar State University from Borongan, Eastern Samar won the Best Costume Award.
The 1st Pintados Inter-School Cheer-Dance Competition was graced by Mr. Jerome Parto from the University of Sto. Tomas, this year's UAAP Cheer-Dance Competition.
Mr. Parto, an accredited national judge in Cheer-Dance Competition, served as the chairman of the board of judges. He was ably assisted by Dr. Edith Jacer of the Department of Education Regional Office 8 and Superintendent Benjamin Julipaz, the Logistics Chief of the Philippine National Police Region 8.
