Huge income for Zambo Sur thru economic enterprise
Zamboanga City (2 October) -- The Cerilles Administration is now focused on making Zamboanga del Sur more competitive for development through its numerous economic enterprises.
During the opening rites of the Allied Economic Center last week, Provincial Administrator Rogelio Saniel declared: "We cannot afford to stagnate, we have to grow, move forward, we have to increase our income and stand up on our own feet."
"We have to adopt innovative ideas for us not to depend much on the internal revenue allotment (IRA) by using all legal means in establishing economic enterprises.
Saniel believed that, "having economic enterprises is one best alternatives of the Provincial Government backed up with several laws, such as: RA-6977 known as the Magna Carta for Small Enterprises; RA-6810 Kalakalan 20; RA-7882 Assistance to Women Entrepreneurs and EO 226 Omnibus Investment Code for Local Fiscal Administration in the Philippines."
At present Saniel said, the Provincial Government has identified several economic enterprises to increase its income, like the organic fertilizer production and the vegetable production at the ecological garden in Dao.
The economic center is managed by employees of some 18 provincial offices.
Meanwhile the AEC maintains a live band where young and aspiring local talents can jam with the ZamboSur band and provide entertainment to its clientele.
The newly inaugurated AEC also provides state of the art airconditioned conference room, catering services, and a display center for crafts produced by organized women's group. (PIA-9) [top]
