Pasalubong Center showcases Pagadian's pride
Zamboanga City (2 October) -- Local entrepreneurs who call themselves "Pagadianon Gyud Producers" displayed their wares at the newly-opened Pagadian City Pasalubong Center, Taklobo Basement, Plaza Luz, highlighting the celebration of the National Tourism Week and World Tourism Day.
The blessing and opening of the Pasalubong Center, a brainchild of the local government of Pagadian and the City Tourism Council, was well-attended by local officials headed by Hon. Romy Tan, heads of national government agencies, non-government organizations, civic-religious groups, business sector and other sponsors.
Mayor Samuel Co, who was in Manila on official business was represented by First Lady Ilang-Ilang F. Co who is also the Honorary Chairperson of the Tourism Council.
Locally produced items were on display such as food stuff, gift items, ornaments embroidered garments, curtains, sandals, slippers, furniture sets and other products proudly Pagadian-made - all at reasonable prices.
Many of the producers have availed of livelihood trainings sponsored by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Science & Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment and other agencies with local government support.
Dr. Priscilla M. Fernandez, Chairperson of the Pagadian City Tourism Council expressed her thanks to the local producers and called on all Pagadianons to patronize and promote the Pagadian City Pasalubong Center which is truly a showcase of our rich resources. (PIA Pagadian) [top]
