OWWA now accepts scholarship applications
Zamboanga City (2 October) -- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) through the Regional Welfare Office IX announces that it is now accepting applications for Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) for School Year 2007-2008.
Ms. Liddy Rasul-Taņedo, Regional Director of OWWA said those eligible to apply are immediate beneficiaries or dependents of active OFWs at jobsite whose contract is still enforced. Scholar applicants should be high school graduate or have not taken any units in college and not over 21 years old.
Accordingly, the scholar may enroll in a 4-5 year course in any school or university with a financial assistance of not more that Php 30 Thousand per semester. Tuition fees shall be paid directly to the school and the remaining balance shall be released to the scholar upon submission of grades at the end of the semester.
All qualified applicants will be referred to the Department of Science and Technology for the competitive exam slated on December 3, 2006, the venue of which will be announced later.
