Oro to host Environmental Youth Summit
Cagayan de Oro City (2 October) -- In its aim to bind together youth and student leaders in the island of Mindanao to become ambassadors of goodwill on environment, the Cagayan de Oro City Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation will host the first ever Mindanao Environment Summit on October 6-8, this year.
This was disclosed by SK Federation president councilor Jericho Goldmar Ebabacol who will lead the city delegation to the said summit at Chali Beach Resort, this city. The summit is anchored on the theme, "Youth Reloaded: Crafting Actions towards Sustainable Development and Ecological Governance in Mindanao."
Ebabacol said that the city is truly privileged to host the event in the city since it will encourage the youth participation in protecting the environment.
He pointed out that the 3-day event will enable the youth and SK members to craft a local plan of action for Mindanao in support to existing environmental laws. More than a thousand participants are expected to attend the said event.
Ebabacol said that it's high time for the youth to participate in the decision-making towards environmental education and management and establish local youth network for sustainable environmental programs and projects. (City Information Office/RAGCOM) [top]
