Mayor Emano promotes Cagayanon talents, products
Cagayan de Oro City (2 October) -- City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano is exhorting all Cagayanons here and abroad to support Cagayanon talents and patronize Cagayan de Oro products as these are real source of pride.
Mayor Emano said that as the city shifts to a higher gear in as far as promoting Cagayan de Oro to the global market, it is also noteworthy to showcase the city's best talents, products and services.
Particularly, Mayor Emano took an active stance in promoting the musical compositions of a native Cagayanon-Felipe Velez Abrogar, who in 1985 placed fourth in the Metro Pop Music Festival in Manila.
Abrogar's album, named So Much Better contains 12 songs all of which are his original compositions namely, Nangangati Ang Ulo Ko, Birheng Salita, Ikaw ang Langit Ko, Pinakamamahal, So Much Better, Since I Came Back Here, Street Song: Fr. Cuna, Prepare For My Old Age: Fr. Cuna, Kilala Ba Ako, Imo Ba Syang Igsoon?, Wa Pa Mahuman Ang Tanan, and Ania Ako Ang Imong Higala.
Ania Ako Ang Imong Higala was composed by Abrogar in 1977 but became popular in 1985 when he interpreted the song in the prestigious Metro Manila Pop Music Festival in that year.
Abrogar's album sold at P250 per copy will soon be available at the Cagayan de Oro Tourism Show House in Divisoria.
Other Cagayanon talents who are making waves in the national and international entertainment arena are musician Toti Fuentes, classical guitar artists Julius Carrasco and Ernie Vasquez, soprano Evelyn Mandac, Teogenes Velez who composed the UP Hymn, the Sunot sisters of the famous female band Aegis, pop singer Mark Bautista.
Meanwhile, Mayor Emano also disclosed the city's best products such as the famous ham of Darling Foods, Pine Ham, Oro Ham and Slers.
