Emano declared this during the opening of the week-long celebration at the City Hall grounds. This year's celebration is centered on the theme, "Nakatatanda-Kaagapay ng Pagkakaisa at Kalayaan."

The city chief executive is grateful for the members of the senior citizens for making Cagayan de Oro into what it is today even as he vowed to do his best to be of service to them.

Emano said that the city's senior citizens are the heroes, the builders, the educators, the homemakers and the breadwinners who have labored so hard to put in place a city that has experienced a tremendous economic progress through the years.

The week-long celebration started today with a holy mass, then a caravan around the city which was participated in by the 90 chapters of the Cagayan de Oro City Federation of Senior Citizens Associations (CAFESCA).
