Payment of ISF under CAP, extended anew
Tuguegarao City (3 October) -- NIA R02 has given another extension date to farmers who failed to fully settle their obligations on Irrigation Service Fees based on agreement made under the Compromise Agreement Program or CAP.
The newly approved extension will be in effect up to June 30, 2007 as provided for by Board Resolution 7390-06 duly approved during the regular Board meeting held last June 16, 2006.
However, NIA R02 Regional Irrigation Manager Vicente Galvez explained that said resolution applies only to farmers who signed a promissory note under the CAP and does not apply to new applicants of the Compromise Agreement Program.
It can be recalled that NIA set several extension dates from August 2004, December 2004, June 2005 and the latest is June 30, 2007. The extended deadline will give ample time for farmers to settle their ISF accounts.
The program aims to help farmers update their back accounts and benefit from the discounts on monthly interest. Aside from the discounts, the computation is based on the current price under the NFA support price of palay during the time when the ISF was applied. A farmer could avail of as much as 60% discount on his obligations when paid in full, Galvez said. (PIA-Cagayan) [top]
