Tacloban City (3 October) -- The Regional Health Research and Development Committee (RHRDC) through its active inter-agency members has gained notable remarks for its accomplishments for the early part of the current year, 2006.
Among the activities noteworthy of the organization was the conduct of a training-workshop on the Research Method with the Integration of Bioethics. This was held in the month of May, this year, at the Department of Health regional office, Candahug, Palo, Leyte.
Aimed at protecting the rights and welfare of research involving human subjects, said training has been an opportunity in discussing the Ethical Considerations in Biomedical Research, International Ethical Guidelines and Principles, HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health.
Also discussed during activity was the making of research proposals, the output of which was the formulation of 17 health research proposals for the Eastern Visayas region.
Another major activity of the RHRDC was the conduct of a Focused Group Discussions in which 11 member institutions were visited by Dr. Ruben Caragay from the University of the Philippines College of Public Health. Said agency visits were a sort of actual evaluation as regards the research activities in the different institutions of the region.
It can be recalled that the RHRDC is an inter-agency organization with the objective of solving the Philippine health problems through health researches and developmental interventions.
With its persistent plans to sustain its major activities for the rest of the months, the committee would serve as a venue for inter-agency efforts geared towards health advancement and stability. (PIA 8) [top]
