Region 8 educators up for academic excellence

Tacloban City (3 October) -- Determined to raise academic performance and improve the delivery of basic services in the Eastern Visayas region, the Department of Education (DepEd) has recently conducted a Regional Live-out Collaborative Conference at the DepEd regional office in Candahug, Palo, Leyte.
The training was participated in by the regional and division supervisors of different major subjects, division chiefs, district supervisors as well as heads of high and low performing schools in the recent National Achievement Test or NAT.
Discussed during the two-day conference held last September 28 to 29 were the NAT results, status of programs and projects implementation and the different monitoring strategies being adopted.
Wit this activity, DepEd 8 is optimistic it would sustain if not increase remarkable academic performance in the region.
Meanwhile, another training and decision-making seminar has been conducted for Values Education and English teachers of the Department of Education, together with secondary school students.
The activity which was held at the Regional Teachers Training Center in Candahug, Palo, Leyte was intended for faster and more efficient delivery of complementary education of high school students in values formation, leadership, decision-making and personal management.
Also aimed at building training capabilities of teachers while enjoying the trust and confidence of the students, said undertaking was conducted for free, courtesy of the University of Asia and the Pacific or UAAP. (PIA 8) [top]
