National statistics month kicks-off in Catbalogan

Catbalogan, Samar (3 October) -- The National Statistics Office (NSO) held its kick-off activity for the 17th National Statistics Month celebration today, October 2, 2006, at the Municipal Lobby, Catbalogan, Samar, with a Eucharistic celebration and a motorcade around town.
This month long celebration was participated in by different government agencies, statistical community members and students from different schools.
This year's theme "Empowering Consumers through Responsive Energy Statistics" will highlight the importance of energy statistics in our country's development.
Ms. Letecia Chiu, Samar Provincial Statistics Officer and the DepEd Samar Division Supt. receive the "Best NSM Province 2005 Award" in behalf of the Statistical Community of Samar, during the opening ceremonies for NSM 2006 held at the NEDA Conference Hall on October 2, 2006 . Giving the award is NEDA Dir. Buenaventura Go-Soco, Jr. RSCC Chair. (PIA-8)
The month long celebration is full of activities and services for all sectors of our society such as: civil registration, livelihood trainings, siday contest which will be aired over DYMS and exhibits for every agency.
Ms. Letecia C. Chu, Provincial Statistics Officer in her message, congratulated all members of the statistical community of this province for being the 2005 BEST National Statistics Month for this is the first time that this award is given and Samar statistical community is the first awardee.
She also emphasized that this award is not just a dream, but a reality since the statistical community really worked hard in making the statistical month celebration a resounding success.
Meanwhile, Ms. Cleta Omega TESDA, Provincial Director in her message said she is happy for having this celebration a success not only today, but throughout the years. (PIA -Samar) [top]
