Cooperative caravan highlights Region 8 coop month celebration

Tacloban City (October 3) -- A Cooperative Caravan which will end up at the scenic Caluwayan Palm Island Resort and Restaurant at Barangay Caluwayan, Marabut, Samar on October 14, 2006, will highlight this year's celebration of Cooperative Month in Region 8.

Cooperative Development Authority Regional Director Pedro Balundo revealed that this year's highlight reflect this year's theme, " Cooperatives: Making a Real Difference, Bansang Nagkakaisa... May Pusong Kooperatiba."

Director Balundo said that Regional Cooperative Development Council of Region VIII is spearheading the activity which will involve the participation of all the organized cooperatives all over the Region. He said that this is one activity where the members of the various cooperatives can show their faith in the effectiveness of cooperativism in the promotion of social and economic progress.

The Assembly for the Cooperative Caravan, Director Balundo informed, is at the CDA Frontage along Real St, at 7:30 to 8:45 in the morning of October 14 for those who are coming from Southern Leyte, Biliran and Leyte. The Caravan will motor around the City of Tacloban before proceeding to the Sta. Rita- Basey Junction where the Northern Samar, Eastern Samar and Samar groups are waiting.

From there the Caravan will motor to Basey, Samar where they will be joined by the Basey Cooperatives in proceeding to the Caluwayan Palm Island Resort and Restaurant.

A mass will be offered at 10:45 in the morning with Reverend Fr. Neil P. alabata officiating. Agape Lunch will follow with the delegates sharing their food and table hopping. Director Balundo that catering by the Resort Management is available at a package rate of P250.00 per person inclusive of food and drinks, entrance fee and cottage/tent and tables and chairs rental including corkage fee for food brought in by the delegates.

Groups not catered may bring their own provisions and drinks but will be charged with corkage fee of P500.00 for food/drinks/whole lechon. They will also be charged with P10.00 entrance fee per person, P150.00 for seat and shelter or rent a cottage with 10-12 persons capacity at P600.00.

At 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon, program, fellowship and games will be conducted and this will be capped with the Search for the Coop Muse, Director Balundo informed.

Director Balundo added that each delegation is requested to place its banner or streamer at the sides of their vehicle and that a Registration Fee of P200.00 per coop is charged to help defray the miscellaneous expenses.
