Forum on population growth, poverty-nexus set

Iloilo City (4 October) -- A forum on the links among population, economic growth and poverty will be held on October 6, 2006, at Central Philippine University Educational media Center, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., open for invited sectors who are probable users of the data.
The forum is hosted by the CPU Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) and jointly sponsored by the Asia-Pacific Policy Center and the Philippine Center for Population, which also conducted the study.
SSRI Director Fely P. David, said that discussing the results is very important in determining how the data can be utilized for purposes of decision-making and planning.
Three important presentations will be made, first by Mr. Dennis mapa of the UP School of Statistics, second by Ms. Rosemarie G. Edillon and Mr. Carlos Abad-Santos, both of the Asia Pacific Policy Center.
Cocepcion Mayor Raul D. banias will give his reactions after the presentations. The participants will then sit in small group workshops which will be presented after lunch.
Prof. David said that preferred participants to the forum are those involved in planning and implementation of programs and services related to population and development. (PIA 6) [top]
