Annual Art for Change contest moves to Cebu
Cebu City (4 October) -- The 6th Annual Art for Change contest will be held for the first time in Cebu City this year, departing from its traditional venue in Metro Manila.
The Art for Change is an on-the-spot painting tilt for children which will be held on October 7, 2006 at the Activity Area of Robinson’s Place Cebu, Fuente Osmeña, Cebu City.
Sponsored by the Office of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr., the art competition seeks to inspire budding artists to portray on canvass the aspirations and travails of the Filipino people in their quest for freedom, justice, peace and prosperity.
The competition gives the youth a venue as well for demonstrating their artistic potentials and for interpreting their role in the reformation and advancement of Philippine society.
All artistically-inclined children not more than 12 years of age, together with their parents, are enjoined to sign for the Art for Change contest.
The competition is expected to attract about 200 participants from Cebu and nearby provinces.
Winners will get cash prizes, with P10,000 for the First prize, and other additional freebies and other surprises from various sponsors of the event.
Registration will start at 8:00am on October 7, 2006 on first-come-first-served basis. The art competition proper will begin at 10:00am and the awarding of prizes, which will be handed by no less than Sen. Pimentel himself, will be at 3:00pm on the same day.
