Surigao Sur celebrates consumer welfare month

by Primo Martho L. Oyan

Tandag, Surigao del Sur (October 5) -- The ConsumerNet this province has lined-up various activities for the consumer Welfare Month celebrations, this October.

In a radio interview, Esmeraldo Raymundo, President of Surigao del Sur ConsumerNet said a motorcade will be held along the main thoroughfares of Tandag on October 4 to highlight the activities. Forum on water and power utilities will follow.

Raymundo said important information that should be known by the clients of Electric Cooperative and Tandag Water District will be tackled.

The local ConsumerNet will sponsor another forum on October 12, dubbed as empowerment forum. This will be facilitated by the officials of Department of Energy-Davao and Department of Trade and Industry-Surigao Sur.

Also included in the lined-up activities for the month long celebrations is fair trade laws monitoring of the different business establishments here and the public market in Tandag.

Raymundo expects the celebrations would remind the consumers of their rights. This year's theme of the Consumer Welfare Month celebrations is "Enforcing Consumer rights Towards a Progressive Community". (PIA-Surigao del Sur) [top]
