Bunye: AO 160 will give more teeth to regulation of billboard

Manila (5 October) -- Following President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s issuance of Administrative Order No. 160, Press Secretary Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye said the President’s AO “will give more teeth to strict regulation of billboards so these will not pose a danger to the people.”

Bunye explained that with this order the Arroyo administration is expecting the public works and highways department along with other concerned agencies and the local government units (LGUs) to deliver results on the inspection the soonest possible time, and map out safety measures to keep the public out of harm’s way.

“We have already seen how people have been exposed to extreme danger over the reckless placement of billboards, more so if government functionaries are remiss in their duty to check these hazards,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the Palace assured the billboard industry, as a whole, that designated areas will be provided for the safe erection of billboards. (PIA—MMIO) [top]
