PNP bewails ‘communist propaganda’ on bishop’s slay
Quezon City (5 October) -- THE Philippine National Police is deploying a team from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to take over the investigation into the killing of Philippine Independent Church (PIC) bishop Alberto Ramento and “end all speculations” into the motives behind the crime.
At the same time, PNP Director General bewailed what he called “communist propaganda” from groups who consider Ramento’s murder a political crime.
"It is unfortunate that communist propaganda is attempting to muddle the investigation,” said Calderon. “But our investigators are keeping their focus on solving the case."
"To end all speculations into the death of Bishop Ramento, a well-coordinated effort is underway to account for the suspects, and we expect to make arrests very soon," Calderon said in a statement. (PIA) [top]
