Davao awaits further study on chemical spraying

by Romy Sabaldan

Davao City (6 October) -- The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) is now awaiting the results of further study conducted by the City Planning Office on the planned eradication of aerial chemical spraying in Davao City.

This was disclosed today by Councilor Emmanuel D. Galicia during an interview with media saying that the move will give the legislative council further guidance from the executive department on the issue.

Galicia indicated that it is not difficult for the city council to decide based on all data of information available."Kung tinuod nga makadaot, ihunong, kung dili makadaot dili ihunong". (if its harmful, then it should be banned, if its not then we will not ban) Galicia explained.

He said that the city council is waiting for more concrete evidence based on the re-study ordered by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. We are confident on the thorough review of the matter considering that the study and re-study is being conducted by a very competent environmentalist in the person of former DENR official and now City Planning Officer Mario Luis Jacinto, added Galicia.
