3,980 farmers avail of Oro vet services
Cagayan de Oro City (6 October) -- A total of 3,980 farmers from the city's 80 barangays have availed of the services offered by the City Veterinary Office (CVO) in September, this year.
In her monthly accomplishment report to City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano, Dr. Perla Asis, CVO officer-in-charge revealed that the CVO vaccinated a total of 568 dogs for rabies; 71 dogs for DHL/CPV; 28 carabaos, 126 cattle, 2 horses and 52 goats for hemorrhagic septicemia; 343 pigs for hog cholera and 200 chicken for new castle disease.
The CVO also treated a total of 787 animals for various diseases, dispersed 16 animals, inseminated 7 cattle and 20 swines, castrated 246 animals, injected 485 piglets for piglet anemia, gave vitamins and mineral supplements to 1,129 animals, dewormed 394 backyard animals and treated 100 animals against external parasites.
Dr. Asis disclosed that they have conducted a campaign on rabies to 35 students and conducted four seminars. They also continued their Operation Pamatong where they impounded 78 astray dogs in 28 operation during the period and coordinated any programs of the Department of Agriculture.
