Region 8 DBM PX commissary set to formally open October 11
Tacloban City (October 7) -- Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office 8 Director Imelda Laceras announced that the formal launching of the Region 8 PX Commissary which was postponed on September 29, will finally push through on October 11 with no less than DBM Secretary Rolando Andaya gracing the important occasion.
Director Laceras said that the formal launching program will start at 10:00 o'clock in the morning at the DBM RO8 Office. It will start with an invocation by Rev. Ronel Taboso to be followed by the Singing of the National Anthem by the DepEd Chorale.
First District of Leyte congresswoman Remedios L. Petilla will give the Welcome Remarks while Atty. Estanislao C. Granados Jr., the Executive Director of the Procurement Central Office will give the Opening Message.
Director Laceras will introduce the Guest of Honor, Secretary Rolando G. Andaya Jr. before he delivers his Message.
Highlight of the activity is the Unveiling, Ribbon Cutting and Blessing of the PX Commissary. These will be done by Secretary Andaya, Congresswoman Remedios Petilla, RDC Chairperson Rosette Lerias of Southern Leyte , Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla, Tacloban City mayorAlfredo T. Romualdez, Undersecretary Mario L. RElampagos, Assistant Secretary Evelyn V., Guerrero, Atty Estanislao Granados Jr. and Rev. Fr. Ronel V. Taboso.
Director Laceras said that she has invited local chief executives, Regional Directors, presidents State Universities and Colleges in the Region, among others in order to make the launching more meaningful.
The PX Commissary is part of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's non-wage incentives to the government workers. The PX Commissary will make available basic commodities at cheaper price to the government workers through the employees cooperatives and associations of the various agencies and other government entities.
Director Laceras expressed optimism that the other agencies will follow suit and implement the PX Commissary in their respective agencies. (PIA 8) [top]
