Leyte businessmen join 32nd Philippine business confab
Tacloban City (October 7) -- Businessmen from the province of Leyte are set to attend the 32nd Philippine Business Conference hosted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and which will be held at the Manila Hotel from October 18 – 20, at the Manila Hotel.
This was learned from Mr. Orlando Uy, the president of the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who said that some of the members of the Chamber have already confirmed their attendance to the biggest annual business conference in the country which brings together business managers and executives around the country for a week-long conference to promote Philippine business and new opportunities in the local and global markets.
Mr. Uy said that the local businessmen look forward to the annual conference because of the impressive lineup of business activities like the two CEO Forums focusing on first, the emergence of sunrise industries in the country, and second, on winning the global market. Featured sunrise industries include Tourism, Beauty and Wellness, Fashion, Healthcare, ICT, Mining, Construction and Property, and Agro-Industry. There will be several breakout sessions, business matching and exhibits, as well as sponsors and product road show presentations.
Mr. Uy added that the conference will also feature a dialogue between business leaders and government economic managers. Topics include investments and competitiveness, taxation and fiscal reforms, and energy. A video presentation on the Asean Business Summit will be shown during the conference. The highlight of the PBC is the presentation of resolutions that summarize business and government’s program of action for 2007.
For the concluding plenary, Mr. Uy informed, no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Philippines will deliver the keynote address of the conference.
Mr. Uy intimated that the local businessmen and the province and the region 8 as a whole stand to gain from the participation of the local businessmen in the national conference. This year’s theme, “ONE. GLOBAL. FILIPINO,” enshrines the aspirations of the present generation of Filipino businessmen striving to develop a reputable international brand name for the Philippine in a world pervaded by global competition, Mr. Uy concluded.
