by Gigi Dumallig

TABUK, Kalinga (9 October) -- Twenty bricks of dried marijuana were confiscated by the elements of the 77th Infantry Battalion while conducting a routine check last September 27 at their detachment at Sitio Pasunglao of Barangay Calanan, Tabuk.

According to reports, the more or less 20,000 grams dried marijuana worth P500,000.00 were discovered aboard a passenger jeep from Tinglayan bound to Tabuk by the army team led by Technical Sergeant Rodolfo Lemmao.

No one of the passengers including the driver claimed ownership of the contraband which were packed inside a sack. The illegal substance were turned over by the soldiers to the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO).

Said undertaking is in support to the government's continuous campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs or substance in the country.

The 77th Infantry Battalion, Echo Company, which is operating in Pinukpuk, Tabuk and some parts of Conner, Apayao is under the 501st Infantry Brigade based at Calanan, Tabuk. (PIA-Kalinga) [top]
