Venvi enters market-matching with corn farmers of San Quintin
SAN QUINTIN, Abra (9 October) -- The corn farmers of this town are assured of a fertilizer loan from the Venvi Corporation during the market matching conducted here last week.
The market matching activity between the corn farmers of San Quintin and the Venvi Corporation of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte resulted to an agreement of a 50% loan on the cost of organic fertilizers available from the Venvi Corporation. The remaining 50% of the cost of the fertilizers loaned out to the farmers will be paid in full during harvest time.
Venvi which comes to Abra to deliver poultry eggs, likewise assured the farmers to purchase all their corn produce on condition that the farmers set up only one collection center to facilitate the gathering of the produce. There was no agreement on the pricing as both parties agreed to follow the prevailing market price at the time of the procurement period.
In an interview with Ms. Flora Barbero, the Provincial Corn Coordinator in the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the market matching was attended by more than 60 corn farmers in the municipality and facilitated by the office of the municipal agriculturist headed by Arnildo Timbreza. The activity was jointly funded by the Department of Agriculture - CAR Field Unit and the San Quintin LGU headed Mayor Amador B. Diaz.
Meanwhile, Erlinda Burton, Training and Information Officer of the OPAG, said the Farmers' Field Day for Techno Demo projects are conducted in the towns of Lagangilang and San Juan on October 5 and 6 respectively. The techno demo projects are facilitated by Gilbert Barbero, the Provincial Techno Demo Coordinator. Said activities are also the collaborative efforts of the DA-CARFU and the LGUs concerned.
The techno demo projects and market matching activities are support activities of the agriculture department in support of a sustainable agricultural development program of the government. (MTBB-PIA/Abra) [top]
