DENR gives out free patent titles in Carigara

Tacloban City (9 October) -- As part of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's 10-Point Agenda which is poverty alleviation, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Region 8 headed by Regional Executive Director Leonardo R. Sibbaluca is now accepting Free Patent applications in some selected barangays in Carigara to include the Poblacion.
It was learned from DENR Information Officer Purificacion Daloos that said implementation was made possible due to the expansion of services of DENR's Land Administration and Management Project (LAMP). Relative to the activity, DENR will deploy field staff to be assigned in the area to entertain land claimants of alienable and disposable lots in Carigara, Leyte.
Ultimately, Free Patent Titles will at last be granted to land owners which will hopefully result in the improvement of the quality of life of said farmers and thereby increasing the market value of their lots.
This project of DENR, Daloos further bared, is also expected to increase the revenue for the municipality of Carigara since land owners will now be compelled to pay their real estate taxes regularly.
As a result of the installation of a base camp in the area, which was scheduled on the first week of October, initial activities are being undertaken in preparation for the full implementation of said project.
Earlier, a couple of barangay assemblies has been organized by DENR in Barangays Caghalo and Nauguisan which is expected to result to a systematic adjudication of Free Patent Title applications. On the other hand, land tenure appraisal is presently being undertaken in Barangays Canal, Cutay, Hiraan, Tangnan, Libo and Baruguhay for a possibility of an issuance of a Free Patent Title to qualified land claimants, Daloos added.
DENR is expecting that in three to four months time, the Free Patent Titles will be ready for release. However, this will only be applicable if the documentary requirements have been strictly followed and said lots should be free from disputes or conflicts. (PIA-8) [top]
