Female student-artists win over males in Cagayan Valley World Food Day art contest
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (10 October) -- Three young females dominated this year's recently concluded Regional World Food Day Poster Making Contest 2006 at the Department of Education (DepEd) regional office in Tuguegarao City.
The winners were Paulyne Nathalie Ordillo, a Grade V of barangay Maxingal, Lallo town in Cagayan province; Joy Miren de Guzman, grade VI of Cauayan South Central Elementary School and Gabrielle Darlene Dumrique, grade VI of Buena Suerte Elementary School, both in Cauayan City in Isabela.
The winners received P1,000 each and a plaque from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Ordillo was chosen by the board of judges to represent the region in the national level on October 4.
This year's competition which carries the theme, "Invest in Agriculture for Food Security was participated by 14 participants from grades IV, and VI.
Dr. Victoria Tablang, DepEd assistant regional director in her statement stressed that the competition was very timely and proper since it ionvolves the young sectors in expressing their concerns on Food Security with their artistic talents.
The event was sponsored by the Department of Agriculture (DA), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN), Department of Education (DepEd) and the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council(RAFC). (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
