Samar DepEd declares: Tarangnan has Best District profile

Tacloban City (10 October) -- Tarangnan District garnered the first ever Best District Profile Material in the entire Samar Division this school year 2006-2007.

This was bared by Rolando Vieja and Albert Castro, Tarangnan Central principal and supervisor respectively during the Food for School (FFS) Distribution by the National Food Authority (NFA) on the first week of October.

Samar DepEd Information Officer Claire Menda confirmed the duo's claim. She added that during their September Management Committee (MANCOM) meeting the district was given recognition as having the best profile material in a flyer form.

Menda said that the search is done to strengthen awareness on profiling information in the district.

The profile sample given to PIA was in full color-three fold bearing all needed information on the district and the Tarangnan Central School. It also boosts of best practices like being adjudged as "Child Friendly" for two consecutive years, along with Sta. Cruz Elementary School , still belonging to Tarangnan district.

Best practices included were Project Clinical Approach to Numeracy and Literacy (CAN LEAD) Instructional Accountability Mapping (I AM Learning), Project HI-TECH School TV assisted classroom instructions and others.

As for pupil development it also observes a Culture of Excellence in Elementary Schools (CEES) and Comprehensive and Holistic Attitude for Recovery of Moral Excellence (CHARME).

The school is also proud of being the 6th Regional Press Conference Winner and producing Cathlyn Aniban 4th placer in news writing and Wea Angelique Malana 5th placer in news writing. In sports, it has Flordeivina Villar as 4th placer in running event during the Palarong Pambansa.

As for Health and Nutrition program, it takes pride in the School Feeding Program from LGU Tarangnan, Plan Philippines and Philippine Dairy Authority. Added to this is the Bigas Para sa Mag aaral at Magulang ni Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. (PIA-Samar) [top]
