Centcom appeals for convergence to end terror
by Roberto M. Cabardo
Cebu City (10 October) -- Amidst the terror attack of the still constructed Silay International Airport last Sunday, Central Command (Centcom) appeals for convergence of efforts of all sectors in the fight against terrorism.
Centcom spokesman Col. Jefferson Omandam in a text message this morning said that “relying 100 percent to government forces would be a misnomer,” adding that to effectively address this concern is through convergence.
Meanwhile, P/CSupt. Silverio Alarcio for his part believes that what happened in the airport was an isolated case” that happened only in Region 6” and does not affect the peace and order situation in Central Visayas.
Malacanang,in a press statement, already condemned as an act of terrorsism the raid conducted by the New People’s Army (NPA) on the construction site of the foreign-funcded Bacolod Airport in Silay City, Negros Occidental early Sunday morning after the foreign contractors allegedly refused to give in to the demands of the terrorist rebels.
