Solon's scholarship program benefits Cagayan youth

Tuguegarao City (11 October) -- Representative Manuel Mamba of this province's third district recently granted scholarships for poor but deserving students in pursuing their tertiary education.

Mamba who supports the adage "Education for a better life" gave scholarship grants to valedictorian graduates in the secondary level, giving them cash allowance amounting to P5,000.00 and paying their tuition fees until they graduate.

At least 42 valedictorians were earlier given scholarship grants covering 42 secondary schools within the solon's district.

"I believe I the power of education as the answer to poverty. Hence this program to encourage our youth to pursue their college studies," Mamba said.

Since its inception, Mamba's scholarship program has benefited 1,200 students while other recipients have already been employed either in the country or in abroad.

The solon also constructed several schools in his district, catering to the yearly batches of students in the province. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
