Commentary: On NPA attacks

Koronadal, South Cotabato (11 October) -- The government cannot be blamed if it is intensifying its military campaign against the New People’s Army (NPA) because of the NPA’s latest attack of the Bacolod International Airport in Silay City.

The brazen attack on the airport project is not only a direct assault on the people whose jobs are at stake in the construction of the airport, but on the government’s development vision designed to alleviate poverty.

The active cooperation and vigilance of the communities are very much needed by the PNP and AFP in coming out with security measures.

The government will continue to press on with measures to secure vital projects and infrastructures in the counter terrorism campaign in all fronts.

With a consistent and effective battle against containing terrorist activity, the Filipino can create the ideal peace and order situation in which the economy can continue to thrive. (MCD/PIA 12) [top]
