Commentary: On North Korea nuclear test
by Bapa Bedu
Koronadal, South Cotabato (11 October) -- What worries us regarding the North Korea Nuclear Test is not only regional security but possibly another world war.
The Philippines joins the rest of the world in urging the leadership of the North Korean government to drops its continuous development of weapons of mass destruction and shift its focus on regional collaboration rather than intimidation.
As a peace-loving nation, the Filipinos believe that nuclear weapon have no more place in a shrinking world that places of premium on understanding and harmony, where the overriding interest is the pursuit of world peace, the resolution of economic imbalances, and the global fight against poverty.
The Government hopes and prays that the UN Security Council would come up with the best way to finally convince North Korea to drop its nuclear weapons project.
We hope therefore that North Korea will finally cease the development of its weapons of destruction. (PIA 12) [top]
