Ozamiz stude conquers reg'l popquiz
Cagayan de Oro City (12 October) -- Rowelle Gem B. Daguman, a 4th year student of Labo National High School in Ozamiz City, bested other contestants during the Regional Population Quiz Show (Popquiz) held on October 10, 2006 at the Regional Educational Learning Center (RELC), Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
The Popquiz is a yearly contest for high school students in the region, which aims to awaken the awareness and understanding on the country's population and on development issues and concerns. This year's theme is "Pinoy youth empowerment for health and development".
Daguman received a cash prize and a trophy, and will represent the region at the National Popquiz to be held in Tupi, Cotabato City on October 25.
Maria Isabel J. Macasieb of Iligan City National School of Fisheries, Iligan City was declared first runner up. Nely C. Vallecera of Bukidnon National High School meanwhile got the second runner-up spot. Both also received cash prizes and trophies.
The annual activity is a joint project of the regional offices of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Population (PopCom). (PopCom-10 / RAGCOM) [top]
