NFA XI wins four national awards in 2006 Search for NFA outstanding stakeholders

General Santos City (12 October) -- The National Food Authority (NFA) Region XI has brought home four (4) major awards out of the eight categories for the nationwide 2006 Search for NFA Outstanding Stakeholders during the 34th anniversary celebration of the agency last September 26, 2006.
According to NFA Region XI Director Antonio R. dela Cruz, the Region submitted eight entries as regional winners nominating them for all the categories and luckily four won the first place while two entries for Outstanding Provincial Farmers Action Council (PFAC) of Tagum City and Outstanding Palay Processing Enterprise - Sorongon Rice and Corn Mill of Digos City settled for third place.
Runaway winners for region XI are as follows: Outstanding Corn Farmers Organization- Mangloy Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Compostela Valley; Outstanding Grains Retailers Organization- GRECON Sargen, General Santos City; Outstanding Corn Processing Enterprise - Julu Enterprises, Inc. of Davao City; and Outstanding Regional Farmers Action Council (RFAC) - RFAC XI.
Asst. Regional Director Dianne A. Silva who is the chairperson of the Regional Search and Awards Committee said that the search was launched by NFA Central Office throughout the country to motivate the NFA stakeholders in their participation to various NFA programs and activities and at the same time recognizing their efforts in the implementation of these programs and initiatives on community service.
NFA Central office has encouraged nationwide participation for the eight (8) categories namely: Outstanding Palay Farmers Organization, Outstanding Corn Farmers Organization, Outstanding Grains Retailers Organization, Outstanding Corn Processing Enterprise, Outstanding Palay Processing Enterprise, Outstanding FLGC, Outstanding PFAC and RFAC.
NFA Central Office through the created National Search and Awards Committee has set the criteria which were replicated in the regional and provincial offices taking the task of identifying, evaluating and recommending the stakeholders nominees.
This will be a continuing activity every year to be held during the celebration of the Grains Industry Month and NFA anniversary during the month of September. (NFA XI/PIA 12) [top]
