RP supports UN on NoKor issue

Manila (12 October) -- Malacaņang expressed support for the United Nation's effort in dealing with North Korea's nuclear bomb testing with Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye saying "the Philippines entrusts to the UN Security Council the best options to deal with the issue."

Bunye, who is also the Presidential Spokesman and chair of the Presidential Communications Group, stressed that the nation stands for peace and stability in the Asia region while explaining that the government considers it as a responsibility to support any and all efforts to deescalate the situation and restore peace and stability.

Meanwhile, the Arroyo administration is taking steps and preparing contingency measures to protect the Filipino nationals from the threat of harm.

Recently, Malacaņang assured the Filipino people that the government is ready for untoward developments that may occur in view of the current situation as President Arroyo has already directed the Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Labor (DOLE) departments to be prepared at all times. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
