By Danny O Sagun
Pangasinan (12 October) -- The Regional Development Council in cooperation with the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and the four provinces from Region 1 has revived the Search for the cleanest and greenest local government units as well as the inland bodies of water and the coastal areas. The national Clean and Green Search project originally started in 1993 and lasted up to 2003. For funding problems, no nationally-initiated Search projects were staged in 2004 and 2005. The RDC deemed it fit to revive the project even on a regional level only.
The Department of Interior and Local Government, as chair of the Search project, convened yesterday Wednesday, October11, 2006, at the Urduja House in Lingayen ,a meeting with representatives of various government agencies involved in the search as well as representatives of the 44 municipalities in Pangasinan particularly municipal planning and development coordinators. The Philippine Information Agency is one among the search committee (evaluators), which is composed of 13 agencies to include a non-government organization.
The evaluation period starts on Tuesday, October 17, and is expected to cover the 44 towns (cities are included in the Regional search) by the end of November. Only the poblacion area is to be covered for evaluation/assessment. (PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
