Region 8 conducts forum on new and renewable energy
Tacloban City (October 13) -- A Forum on New and Renewable Energy will be conducted on October 17 at the DOLE Training Center at Trece Martirez St., Tacloban City.
Director Buenaventura Gosoco of the NEDA Regional Office 8, who is the chairperson of the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee, said that the activity is in line with the observance of the month of October as National Statistics Month.
The Forum is being coordinated by the Regional Statistical Coordination Committee through its secretariat, the National Statistical Coordination Board in the Region. The forum will be sponsored by the Leyte State University (formerly VISCA) and hosted by the Department of Labor and the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board, Director Gosoco informed.
He added that during the forum, the Leyte State University will present its significant inventions on plant oil stove and biodiesel as alternative sources of energy. This activity is in support of this year’s theme “Empowering Consumers through Responsive Energy Statistics,” which highlights the importance of energy statistics in national and countryside development.
The significant inventions are answers to the Administrations call for finding alternative sources of indigenous and renewable energy in order to reduce the country’s dependence on imported fossil fuel.
The forum brings to focus the abundance of alternative sources of fuel in Region 8 and hopes to inspire investors and other stakeholders to join forces in order to promote the use of indigenous alternative sources of energy.
Director Gosoco is enjoining the public to attend the Forum on New and Renewable Sources of Energy which will be conducted from 1:30 – 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon on October 17, 2006 at the DOLE Training Center. (PIA 8) [top]
